Billingham too hot in the sun

The afternoon promised perfect conditions for a game of flowing rugby and the 3tm were sure they were not going to disappoint. After the last couple of league matches with a poor attitude against Acklam and the slow start last week against Stockton there was certainly going to be no repeat today. Within the first few minutes it was evident both teams were up for it, an altercation on the right wing resulted in a yellow for each team and a penalty for Billingham. From the tap the backs used their pace and quick hands to switch the play to the opposite side of the pitch with Lee SIMPSON finishing the move with a try which he ran in under the posts. Missed conversion.
Shortly after, another penalty in a similar position was again worked through hands for SIMPSON to finish out wide. A penalty to Seaton saw them taking the kicking option and Pulling the score to 10-3.
The game was barely 15 minutes old when the home team scored their third try. A kick from the Seaton 22 was caught within the Billingham half by SIMPSON, from here there was only one thing on his mind. A jinking run through numerous defenders using changes in pace ensured he was again going to finish under the posts and complete a hat trick in quick time, converted by DONALDSON.
Another penalty from Seaton brought the score to 17-6 but they had never threatened the home team’s line. GUZ was being his usual battering ram and after knocking off 4 or 5 would be tacklers he then popped the ball for SIXSMITH to finish off with the conversion scored by DONALDSON who then ran in and converted his own individual try from the half way line to finish the half 31-6
The second half brought numerous changes but along with it were different attacking options. Firstly Ben ELGIE joined the line from full back to run in a try, brushing off challenges on his way, again converted, next was a try on the wing from birthday boy Robbie BRUMPTON, a perfect way to celebrate turning 18. Next was the turn of KELSEY to force his way over followed by CANHAM collapsing over the line at the end of a lengthy break.
Credit goes to Seaton for never giving in and it was their turn to get the ball down next and convert taking the score to 57-13.
There was still time for more points though and it could have been more. Firstly BRUMPTON went over unopposed although the occasion must of got to him as he had ran past the dead ball line before grounding so the score was ruled out. Next another move through hands found the ball with MORRISON but as he was free and clear the score was again denied with the final pass from Connor SHEA being judged forward. Into the last few minutes and a score by GUZ who had worked tirelessly through the whole 80 minutes, battering his way through everything before him. Finally it was left to the BRUMPTON to finish the game and his birthday in fine style. After the forwards had successfully defended and rucked within their own 22 the young winger had spotted the gap on the outside and after screaming for the ball took it the length of the pitch to score under the posts.
FINAL SCORE 71-13
