After a cry off from near neighbours Seaton it is with thanks that Hartlepool BBOB have agreed to fill what would have been another free home weekend, something we have seen more than enough of this season. We know BBOB well after already facing them 3 times with rhe result currently 2-1 in our favour. The league may be gone for us both this year but be in no doubt they will be coming to try and turn us over.
As the season winds down we would usually find we are struggling for numbers as people start to drift away, shoping or holidays but this week we find ourselves in a strange position. Mike Brown who is the colts coach and has been the Junior colts coach/manager is retiring from the role, it has been his abition however to take the field alongside a number of his young charges and this is the weekend to do it. It means we have no less than 8 colts stepping up to take the opportunity to play. A number of these guys will be their 1st taste of senior rugby so it will be down to the senior squad members to look out for them and make it enjoyable. Mike's son, Connor who left rugby a couple of years ago will also be pulling on the green and white one more time to fulfill the ambition of a father and son game, something I know only too well how much that means, and as such a cameo from myself can be expected at some point for one last game.
It's great as a club we can do this, give lifelong memories but what we also need to remember is that there is a game to be won against one of the toughest teams in the league, we will need to be firing on all cylinders, after a frustrating season we have 4 games left to go out with a bang, it starts Saturday!!!! Where will you be?
