Games don't come bigger than this weekends versus Alnwick.
Alnwick have been very impressive this season and have turned over some pretty big teams, including Preston Grasshoppers in their own back yard.
The earlier season result saw Billingham and Alnwick play out a draw. In all honesty Billingham were lucky to get a draw given that Alnwick dominated the game throughout. Yes, Billingham were without a few players however it was still a very good squad but it was clear to see the rustiness out the squad given it was the start of the season.
Alnwick are an impressive club, squad and team. Very much like Billingham they have built their foundations on the community. They have a great membership base and hearty supporters who will in no doubt showcase their vocal chords on Saturday.
Alnwick are well drilled with a big, gritty forward pack eager to work off the ball and a trusty ten in Evan Moir who can penalise teams with his canon left boot. Alnwick thrive off upsetting the apple cart!
It is clear that Billingham will need to be at their best. Last weeks game wasnt the best but a win was a win and a 5 pointer to add.. Billingham couldn't find the fluidity. This week we are again on home turf. The ground will allow for the ball to be in play alot more. Either way it makes for an exciting game against a very good side.
Billingham selection issues continue to be a struggle. Injuries, work availability all playing their part. We will however have some players returning which will bolster the ranks.
Selection will be tough for the games. As mentioned above, gauging our opponent we need to be at our best otherwise we would see ourselves being beaten.
People of Billingham and afar. We are calling for your support. Can you be the extra man to help the team cross the white wash?
