Billingham made the journey to Burnage with a strong squad with minimal injuries, this showed with a impressive lions squad back at Greenwood Road.

A still, dry day greeted the team as they arrived with hopes of a free flowing game.

It took a good 20 minutes for the team to shake off the festive break, bus trip and time to familiarise to the much narrower agp.

Once that feeling out timeframe has past the rugby flowed. Bonus point secured before halftime with scores from Kirby, M Walton, Hopley and Jackson.

Burnage played their part in holding out the team, causing disruption at the breakdown.

The 2nd half kicked off and just prior to that Billingham had the luxury of being able to call on over 500 appearances from the bench though Dixon, Burns and Kirby all making an impact.

Further Scores through Hopley x2, B Walton, Kirby, M Walton and Luke Wilson. Roxby having a strong day with the boot. The real positive throughout was the variation in attack and adapting throughout to an ever changing defence. Scores from Kick returns, sustained pressure, 1st phase attack and most important getting the ball to pace as quick as possible.

Unfortunately the result did come with 2 potentially longer term injuries through Elliott Husband with a facial fracture and Alfie Lawson with a repeat knee injury from
pre season. A real shame as the 2 have been driving forces in what has been a great session so far. Let’s hope the all clear is given soon.

A successful result in the bag after a longer break and a win away from home in north premier is always welcome.
