A quickly arrange fixture against Tynedale returning their trip to us last season - always a great bunch of girls and coaches and great to be the visitors at their place. A really hospitable bunch that are always happy to see you and can't do enough for you.

The game started quickly, and finally this group showing what their capable of. Ruck speed and attendance was high and they were really playing as a team. We moved the ball really well, carried at the right times and were accurate. At the set piece we were solid in the scrum making sure to use our attacking platform well there, as well as holding our own on the other side and winning the odd one against the head. Millie Sutheran, Ruby Todhunter, Lilly Fisk, Grace O'Donnell and Abigail Galifant showing some great scrummaging in the front row for us - highlighted by both their ref and coach as a strong weapon.

Once again, all the players in this team are stacking career best performances week after week. Our attack is, in the words of coach Steve, irresistible, but our defence and togetherness has really built into something that's starting to look formidable.

A couple of position changes, with Ava Knight switching to 7 and giving the opposition 10 nightmares from the set piece; Amy Wray Steel moving to 6 (now covering 2, 3, 6, 7, 8) and defending the blind side from the scrum robustly; Lilly Stephenson moved from 7 into 13 and carried hard and ran dangerous lines, scoring a hattrick and now owing a box of sweets for the squad as a result had a cracking game, despite dropping one over the line in the first half which would have sealed the hattrick 35 mins sooner. We also the first appearance of Lilly Fisk, a relative returning face from last season having a good start to her career in green and white. The Tennant twins went around causing a nusiance at the breakdown, put it some good hits in close contact and as usual had a great showing at the lineout (better than dad?!) and Annabelle Kelly scoring 2 great tries with an unconventional but effective attacking style. Abs Gallifant is returning nicely and built into the game in defence and attack - her best touches came when she went to 13 after Lucy Brown went of injured and showed how dangerous a runner she is in open play. We weeks and we'll be seeing Abs back to her best.

Grace Olsen had a cracking game at 8, carrying well in attack and getting some key tackles made in open play. Annabelle (Ally) Lupton continued to get valuable game time and shortly with a bit more experience she'll start to turn into a stronger player. Missie Plews back from RTP started on the wing, not much to do in attack but was effective in the wide channels attending breakdowns to keep our speed of ball quick and stepping in at 9 when needed. Later moving to fullback where she stepped into the line and made some tackles, again another exciting player to be.

The opposition highlighted Millie Crangle, back at 9 today, as a strong performer while giving POTM to newbie Grace (Donny) O'Donnell. From our side Lucy Brown was formidable in defence making great tackles and organising well, as well as Heidi Kelly moving things around at 10 and attacking all over the place.

The Frezola award (Freya & Lola, our u18s and newly qualified coaches) which is awarded to the player from a 3 person shortlist who massively outperformed went to Heidi thanks to some great work in attack and some mega try saving tackles. The other two shortlistees (is that word) went to Millie Sutheran and Ava Knight.
