Recently we announced the re-signing of Harry-Jon Morgan.

Another who spent time away in developing their game, gaining valuable experience but has chosen to come home for the 22/23 season.

Your first preseason back for Billingham….. Hows it going for you?

It’s been outstanding, loved getting back at it. Thoroughly enjoyed my time at Seaham with a cracking set of lads but have loved running around with the billingham lot again the step up has been quality

· How have you settled back in?

Bit a cliché but it feels like I never left. The coaches, players and members of the club have all been extremely welcoming. It’s been class getting back out with the current group - meeting new faces, seeing that the older members have still got it and feel privileged to get to see how far the younger lads have come to now being genuine leaders among the group -

· Who have been the biggest influences since you have been back?

Tough question, I’d probably argue that the lads have all had played a big part on influencing one another. It’s the sort of environment where players buy into the ‘one team’ ideology and drive each other on.

It’s probably worth mentioning individuals like Luke Wilson, who has driven standards in the most brutal segments of the conditioning sessions without breaking a sweat! Just seems to never run out of gas whilst spurring the rest of the squad on 300 down ups deep. Fully convinced that he is a T-1000

Also Joe Ross continues to turn heads in training, he’s virtually a video game cheat code. he just seems to be good at everything seemingly without even trying and it’s really annoying unless he’s on your touch team, great to watch.

For me personally lads like Danno and Armo are two people I have leant on heavily for extras and are probably sick of me asking to stand and let me pass a ball at them. They continue to help others in the group on the more technical aspects of the game.

· Have you any goals for the upcoming season?

Personally - I’ve came back fully aware of the competition for places among all squads especially with boyband of scrum halves at the club.

My main goal this season is to nail down a spot, learn and develop as much as Possible whilst contributing in whatever way I can to the clubs overall targets.

Favoured position?

Always said I’d play anywhere but over the last couple of seasons I’ve found myself playing a lot more at 9 looking forward to giving it a crack again with billingham!

Who has inspired your career to date?

I always enjoyed watching players like Shane Williams, Quade cooper and James O’Connor but I’d Definitely go with my Mum & Dad. Two very proud former players who I still go to for rugby related discussions or advise today.

If anyone wants to point the finger at someone in particular for my involvement in the sport they can blame Chris Hyndman. without the opportunity to be coached and mentored by Chris at the Hartlepool Sixth Form and onwards I wouldn’t be playing or doing the job I love today…so blame him.

Worst banter at the club?

I’d like to throw myself in the mix for this. It’s hard to say one of the things I love about the club is the level of rugby tends to mirror the level of banter. if I had to point the finger I’d back someone like spoors to say something in an exchange that leads to an awkward silence.

Quick fire questions:

Pineapple on pizza?
I could never agree with tropical fruit and cheese.

Tea or coffee?
Coffee

Forwards or backs?
Situation dependant definitely

Pizza or parmos?
Both as part of the same meal deal

Nightout or night in?
I’d say a nightout before and during I have it followed by 3 weeks of nights in to recover.

Ruck or maul
Preferably neither - I’ll pick rucks purely on the fact that you’re less likely to get your toes trampled on

Most inspirational leader?

King Leonidas, specifically Gerard Butler in 300. Great rig.

If rugby disappeared what would you do?

Firstly, get another job. Followed by stuff that I have previously not had the time to achieve e.g write a book, learn mandarin, discover what lies at the bottom of the oceans. You know, those sorts of things.

What 3 people would you invite to a dinner party dead or alive?

Marilyn Monroe - subject to a lot of conspiracies…she knew some stuff
Seth Rogan - I feel like anyones 3 would be 10x better with his inclusion
Stew Evans - no justification needed ?

Welcome home Harry-Jon
