Player Bio: Luke Wilson

Gooodeyyyyy

Tonight's player bio is from our very own Luke 'Goodey' Wilson. A dynamic runner with exceptional feet and fast hands.

A player who is very exciting to watch so it was nice getting to know him a little bit more:

1. How old were you when you started playing rugby?
I was 8 when I first played rugby

2. What was your first rugby memory?
My first rugby memory was U9’s county cup in Darlington (we may have won it).

3. Who was your role model and why? . I mean there’s a few I looked up to, but I’ve got to say Jonny Wilkinson. From winning the World Cup in 2003 to having many years of injury and then coming back to finish his career winning the European cup just shows what a talent he was for many years.

4. Can you remember your first training session with Billingham?
I can’t remember any training when I was younger at the club but I can remember my first with the colts. Wayne had us running at each other with a 20m run up in 2m channel and just smashing each other brutal was an understatement.

5. What do you eat before a big match?
Well this season I’ve changed it up a bit. Home games I go to Greggs and get a Mexican chicken sandwich and a coffee. Away days I get a Tesco meal deal (with discount of course) and a coffee

6. Describe your perfect weekend.
My perfect weekend consists of maybe a meal out on the Friday or fajitas with cake (of course). Saturday getting a big win with the lads, getting loose at the club and going to the green dragon. Sunday getting a win with the U16’s and a dominos on the night with the Mrs

7. What’s been your career highlight?
My career highlight there’s been a few. Playing and captaining North of England U16’s against Midlands in 2012 was good, also playing at twickenham for the county this year and winning was an unreal experience.

8. What one tip would you give a young person looking to succeed
One tip for someone trying to succeed is to just be confident and enjoy your rugby. Don’t let pressure get the best of you and to just enjoy rugby while you can.

9.What’s the next goal in your rugby career?
To get a win on Saturday and to help Billingham to finish as high as we can.

Good luck this weekend Luke
