Two hat tricks, ten tries, 3TM welcomes "Jimmy" Sting Wray back and bloods some developing players, shows the true spirit lending players and Coggy makes his first team debut. What a day at Greenwood

Billingham 3TM V Yarm First Team

Having scratted around for most of the week Whiteline managed to put together what looked like a much weakened (or should that be Week end Team). 3TM regular Watson opened his account with a bulldozing run from eight to go over after five minutes. Then as a competitive Yarm side took an injury Canham made his first team debut (for Yarm) His first job was to face a rampaging Watson and despite dropping him with a superb tackle could not prevent our number eight scoring after Wray, Reay, and Youdale had combined to break the line and Donaldson had set him away. Naz who took a fair bit of stick for his meat axe frame showed a clean pair of heels with a neat inside outside move to go over in the corner. The referee had already red carded a Yarm player but after appeals from Whiteline he rescinded and changed it to yellow. Donaldson was not so lucky when what appeared to be a possible yellow card tackle was shown a red. Down to fourteen and Shea left the field and Dan Hyndman came on to play nine and although his lack of 3TM experience showed he performed reasonably well. Elgie once again forced to play out of his usual full back position showed deft skills with the boot putting a defence splitting grubber through and Sando collected the TV bounce to score right on half time.

The changes were made and Surtees who once again had an outstanding game at back row knocking back the opposition was replaced by Surtees??? What??? Who did just the same job and yes there are two very talented back row Surtees at the club now.
Morrison replaced Sando and cut swages through the Yarm defence with powerful runs
In the drizzle at Greenwood road the two Thompsons along with Youdale were keeping the game tight with Wray and Young proving to strong for the opposition in the power house. Then the ball went seamlessly through the hands to Elgie who glided in to add to his considerable points tally for the season. Some excellent play saw Potts backing up well open his account as Whiteline joined the fray and Scott Thompson changed shirts to bolster the Yarm front row and Naz made way for Simpson who almost got a pass before the end of the game Potts added to his account with a second when again backing up following a great break from Morrison and converted his own try. Watson secured his hat trick with a superb pick up at the base of the scrum covering for the inexperienced Hyndman who was fitting in to the team after a shaky start at scrum half. Elgie returned to the field following a typical Kelsey hammer tackle, sadly he has now learned not to tackle with his nose and a visit to North Tees looked in order. Potts got his hat trick and a telegram was sent to his dad who is now with Lord Lucan following the threat of a jug. The game concluded with another try from clean ball finished by Richie Morrison from distance.
All in all a superb performance by 3TM and credit must go to a plucky Yarm side who stuck to the task well and also to the Billingham lads Coggy and Scott T who were prepared to switch shirts as Yarm took injuries.
