3TM V HARTLEPOOL ROVERS

Billingham Third Team entertained last years Leaugue “winners” on a cold windy day having to move to the Campus. The game started with 3TM hammering at the visiting forwards but it was a fly hack through by Elgie which crossed the try line then stuck in the mud which opened the scoring. If that was speed the second was force with Kelsey and Hall hammering at the line and Whiteline Sudron picking up at the back of a ruck to drive over from the twenty two (inches) mark. Donaldson and Durnion started to orchestrate the attacks and Morrison was unlucky to be stopped just short after a great reverse pass. Watson got his first of the day from way out followed by Elgie getting his second conversion. Half time came with Billingham leading with nineteen unanswered points. Elgie got his second as Naz came on for Morrison and Brumpton replaced Dixon. Rovers tried long kicks with the wind but Shea showed great skills catching every ball and returning then with interest. Rovers could not break down the home defence as Man of the match Anth Kelsey without mouth protection hammered them in the open assisted by Morgan and Gray. Watson got his second under the posts with another trademark run and the kick was dispatched with ease. Shea was replaced by Canham (Coggy) who set about running ragged enjoying his long awaited return from injury. The Lions game finished and Guz switched pitches as Sudron made way. Watson got his third of the day Brumpton decided the backs needed a bit of glory and raced home from distance then Taylor struck from halfway as many thought he should have passed out to Scott Thompson who had raced through to support.
