You cant win them all but on the day rugby was the winner

3TM made the short trip to Acklam to play in the 'social 10's' however social a game of rugby can be which was shown by the fact a number of squads were present with 1st team players.

1st up we had Acklam B , things started well going 2 tries up however a couple of missed tackles allowed Acklam back in the 2nd of which on the stroke of half time meaning at the break it was the slenderest of margins 14-12 to Billingham.

In the 2nd half it didn't go well, Billingham made the mistake of over committing at the breakdown leaving an overlap which former Billingham player Marcus Sudron exploited well, putting his team in for 3 unanswered tries to end the game on the wrong side of a 14-27 Result.

The 2nd game was against a strong Middlesbrough outfit who were boasting a lot of youth and pace.
That being said Billingham were the better team for much of the game but the last pass was letting us down, Middlesbrough then took advantage of mistakes to score 2 breakaway tries.

Into the second half and things started working, we finally figured out 10's and with 30 seconds left on the clock we were 4 points to the good however a dubious turnover in our own 22 saw Middlesbrough go over to win the game.

With losing the 2 games this put us straight into the plate final against BBOB a team we know well having played them 4 times last season.

Right from the start Billingham took the game by the scruff of the neck with Callum Sanderson and Isaac Hodgson going over and it was a lead we wouldn't relinquish as the scores were coming at regular intervals but more importantly there was some really nice play on show.
Final score ended 38-14 and the plate came back with us.

That wasn't the highlight though, for me the guys played hard through the heat, it was great to see Jack Willis back in the green and white, he will mske a great addition to whichever squad he plays for, new guy conor Lavender did well, covering some great ground and making his tackles and was unlucky not to get a try for himself and for those who haven't yet been to training the fitness was invaluable.
