Even the scores prove it was a game of two halves with both sides scoring the same points in each half

BILLINGHAM 3TM V STOCKTON SECOND XV
On an almost perfect day for rugby the first later kick off took place at Greenwood Road. Although the Lions had no game 3TM kept faith with their regulars although the the squad was boosted by players returning to the club after a long absence and of course the usual suspects. The game started brightly with Sudron taking the ball deep in his own half and cutting through the entire Stockton defence to score under the posts with a weaving run. This obviously was not “Whiteline” who showed great team spirit and had left himself off the team sheet as numbers were high. Both the Surtees brothers were showing their usual fervour looking for anybody to tackle and Watson and Guz making holes in the visiting defence. Gray showed a clean pair of heels on numerous occasions breaking the gain line and making good yards partnered in the powerhouse by the returning Massey With a quarter of the game gone O'Callaghan a young player returning to the club got in on the action with a well executed finish from distance after a jinking break from Donaldson. On the half hour Mallam was unlucky with a long run being stopped just short and Bates was on hand to cover the last few yards to score. The Saracens won a penalty and from the line out drove over in the corner for their first score. Almost on half time O'Callaghan limped off with what looks to be only a minor injury to be replaced by Naz. Stockton lost a front row at the same time and Phil Hall volunteered to help them out. This shored up the visitors scrum which looked much more solid thanks to the vast experience of Hall. Deep into injury time Sudron took the ball and with an almost carbon copy ran in his second to bring an end to the first half.

Mick “Whiteline” Sudron rang the changes a half time with regular Lions player Scott Thompson replacing brother Dale in the front row and virtually straight from the kick off Naz took the ball at speed to race over in the corner. Robbie G was the next player to trouble the scorer as Elgie came into the line outside of Andy Thompson and created the overlap to set Brumpton away. Ben then demonstrated the “Pantomime kick” (Its behind you) as his kicking foot slipped on a soft patch and the ball spun away. The visitors doubled their score and more changes were made as Zammo was replaced by Woodhouse, Coggie came on for Elgie and Devine replaced Bates as the game progressed. Anth Kelsey got in on the act as Watson drove close to the line and set up a ruck and Child popped the ball to Kelsey who drove over to score. Morrison handed over the flag to replace Naz out wide as 3TM pressed hard on a tired Stockton side and quick thinking saw a chipped through penalty chased down by Canham but the match official ruled it was not from within the rea of the infringement so it had to be retaken. Guz picked up the ball, went to take a tap and fell over (sorry Guz). This was obviously met with sympathy from the third team and words of encouragement were heard like “try putting studs in next week. Guz had the last laugh however when right at the death he bulldozed over in typical Guz fashion with Sudron slotting the kick to bring the final whistle.

Reporters comment A good display all round with a lot of MOM contenders and great to see so many returning players and Hall showing typical BRUFC spirit playing (and being impressive) for the opposition.
Spectator comment None it was refused t as she really loves the player she was there to watch and was seen cuddling a player on the touch line (Told you I would print that)
Congratulations to Benjamine Elgie on passing his driving test so he can now drive to away matches.
