Future is brigh, Future is Billingham

Billingham under 11s took the short trip to Yarm this morning in cold and very wet conditions. The first period started with Billingham on the front foot. Despite the conditions Billingham were determined to move the ball at every opportunity. Strong running and hard tackling enabled the away side to build up a healthy lead. A raft of changes was made at the mid way point which seemed to momentarily disrupt the rhythm and Yarm came back with a strong run to score from half way. Billingham stunned by this started to again turn the screw and Yarm had very little answer to the pressure. Conceding several more tries before the break. The second period started with Billingham again on top and despite the efforts of the Yarm team they were powerless to stop the Billingham players racking up the score. The third and final period began in similar fashion with Billingham enjoying large periods of possession and several more tries. Yarm kept going until the end in awful conditions and managed to get on the score sheet a couple more times. The inexperienced Yarm team (with only 4 players at the start of the season) never gave up and were a credit to the coaches for their attitude. Billingham again powered on and scored some superb tries in such conditions how the players moved the ball around so much or even caught the ball when they couldn't feel their fingers was impressive. A fine performance by all today with special congratulations to our 3 men of the match. Firstly callum voted for by the opposition coach for his excellent timing of passes and handling skills. The second nomination was for Adam for his excellent work in attack and defence he is a real asset to the team and does his job without fuss. Clean through today 5 yards from the line and still tried to pass the ball just about sums him up! The third nomination was for Lucas who is a new addition this season, his confidence has grown week on week and he is now showing what he can do. Scored the final try of the match and made himself busy throughout with a smile on his face. His first mom of the season. Well done to all today and the parents who continue to turn up in all conditions to support the boys.
