Billingham welcomed Wirral to Greenwood Road in what would be seen as a clash of the packs see if the size of Wirral as they pulled into the car park.

Wirral were clearly the bigger team who lined up looking to upset Billingham's start to the season. Reading Wirrals pre game write up they were ready to try to cause an upset.

Wirral were quickly in attack from the kick off. Billingham defended well through Whinn and Mcalorum with Myers being a menace as usual.

It was debutant Kieran Clark who got Billingham on the score sheet. A charge down and short sprint saw Clark touch down. Evans kicked the conversion. 7 nil.

With Joe Evans sin binned for a high tackle Billingham slowed the game down and eventually received a penalty call. Evans slotted the penalty from just outside the 22 metre line. 10 nil.

Half time came and went with Billingham 10 nil ahead. Wirral quickly hit back with a try of their own taking the score to 10-7.

With Nathan Myers and a Wirral player in the bin Billingham quickly passed the ball wide which was a rarity for a Billingham side for in form Liam King to carry 3 Wirral tacklers over the line. Evans with the kick made it 17-7.

Wirral continued to make head way on the BillIngham defence but with strong tackles by Joe Evans and Foulds kept Wirral at bay.

It was Wirral on the attack again that set up the next try. A spilt ball, a scramble for the ball saw replacement Ben Walton pick up from 70 metres out and out sprint the Wirral back line. Not bad for a second row!!.

Evans missed the conversion. The scoreline was 22-7.

Wirral were not content and battled hard and we're rewarded with a try and conversion.

Billingham had a
Introduced new debutant Conner Foley who not only picked up the pace but kicked the ball off the field which secured the W for Billingham.

It was clear to see the preparation that Wirral had put into press on having played 3+ games compared to Billingham's 1...

Lessons were learnt but it was still a great victory. We continue to build.

A large crowd and with Billingham's 3tm securing victory it was a successful Saturday.

We continue to grow!!
