colts dominate against Yorkshire opponents
Billingham welcomed their Yorkshire opponents Ripon to Greenwood Road in what was a highly competitive game.
Past observations were clear to see that we have recently merged two teams and weren't working together. This is something that the lads and coaching team have been working hard on to rectify.
And today was the the day. Pace, aggression. Speed at the rucks all came together.
Changes to personnel and positions saw Sam Wilson revert to 9 and Joe Ross in at 10.
Sam Gate slotted in at 6 and Tom Walker moving into open-sided.
Billingham brought pace and power from the outset and with Joe running at the defence it created Ripon problems from the start.
The forwards were dominant in the set piece and around the park. Martin Donnelly put In a great shift along with Sam Gate and Reece Kundu. Our front rows were strong and have made it tough to decide a starting pack!
Returning Luke Cooper gave us spark out wide and with Max and Harry we had pace and creativity. In the centres we had the bash brothers with leon and Phil busting holes in the oppositions defence.
The second half saw a raft of changes which brought and a new dynamic to the team. Sam Collishaw brought an edge around the ruck area and a defensive prowess. Ben Armstrong came in assured at the back with a creative spark.
Shane Ellis returned from holiday and stepped in for Joe Ross and was quick to get the pack moving about the park.
Billingham bossed the game throughout but it was far away from being a complete performance. We have an exciting group that are keen to improve.
Training is key to move forward.
