We Go Again!!

Billingham go into this weekend’s game versus Ilkley full of confidence following last week’s away victory over Sandal.

However Billingham are under no illusions that the game against Ilkley will be a walk over. The complete opposite in fact!!

Ilkley will be in a buoyant mood after beating Kirkby Lonsdale 17-31 last weekend.

Currently lying sixth in the table they will be keen to take victory on home soil following the earlier season defeat at Greenwood Road losing 34-19.

I have caught up with Head Coach Peter Evans to get his thoughts ‘Great to be back and even better after a great win on the road. It may have taken us longer than I would have liked to get into the swing of things but we got there. A few areas to work on that we will address this coming week.

This week we again travel to Yorkshire and take on part 2 of 4, of an extremely tough January. Ilkley are an in-form team and will fancy their chances at home. We can take positives from the fact we have won our last few visits there.

We can expect (weather permitting) an open game with Ilkley, like ourselves expected to play an expansive style. They tend to be even games between the two teams, so we will need to use our improving game management to see out the match. As always, we need to improve from last week and be up for the physical test.

There are a few niggles in the squad after a tough one last week, fortunately for us we have a flying lions squad fresh off another double over a big team.

Despite the league standings we are not looking ahead, this league is unforgiving and relentless where most teams can cause anyone problems, particularly on their home turf.’

We go again!!
