What a year!!

Yesterday evening saw all Senior teams come together for the annual Senior Presentation Evening.

Everyone had a similar reason for being there. To celebrate a successful season.

Before the beer taps flowed too much there was some individuals honours to celebrate across the 3 teams.

Here are the nights winners:

1st team
Players player - Dominic Mcalorum

Probably the proudest award to give out, probably the most improved rugby player over the last 5 seasons. An absolute pleasure to coach with the right attitude and highest work rate, now noted by his peers as the best player. It will mean a lot to accept this award along with his county tie for Dom who has wanted to be the best player he can.

Coaches player - Michael Whinn

Along with the Dom the dynamic duo have took the 2nd row to another level. Competition has been fierce and it has brought the best out of Whinny. Played every game this season which is incredible for a busy 2nd row. Always a threat in a attack but his defence has increased this year to another level.

Most improved - Adam Sunley.

I don’t mind saying this but potentially a club legend in the making. 19 years old now and terrorising props in the league. He has come on so much this season and has the ability to become a great.
3 first team winners are all Forwards showing our development in that area.

Lions
Players Player - Luke Featherstone,

First full season as a senior. Played both 9 and 10 and really matured as a leader on and off the pitch. He has proved he has an eye for a gap and the skills to match.
Coaches Player - Ben Blackburn, in all honesty could have won every award. Had many a first team game but unlucky to find the 2nd row spot dominated in the awards above. A fantastic player, leader and a great bloke to have around.

Most improved - Issac Hodgson -

Always been a workforce, will tackle anything but his all round game has come on immensely. Travels from uni to make training and wants to improve, wants to be a better player and willing to do the hard work to match. Pleasure to coach.
Average age of the lions winners is 20, county champs with a young side to carry us forward.

3TM
Players player - Richie Hammond,

Brought experience to the front row and bull like runs ball in hand - 5 votes with 4 others on 4 each could have gone to anyone -

Coach's player - Paul Bates

After a difficult personal year he has brought a maturity to his game we have not seen before without losing his edge and aggression -

Richie also announced captain for next season as Craig Tennant with Vice captain Carl Robinson and 3TM are moving to Candy league 2

Billy Woodhouse Award -Alex Blenkinsop

A new award. Bill had a legacy starting the minis and Junior section so ee thought it be would be nice to have an award to remember him by its the Bill Woodhouse award for outstanding commitment - we chose Alex as he has been backbone of the team for years, playing through pain with both shoulder and knee finally meaning he is having to stop early

Top lasher

- awarded to ex colt Luke Featherstone (the double champ) in an amateur club like ours we need people to lead the way socially and to have a young man do that is fantastic. He is proof that our system works and he continues to pull the other young chaps in the right direction. He is also an absolute dream on the smash.

Thank you both Peter and Richie for their words.

I would also like to thank Nick, Sue, Jane and the girls for everything not just for last night!!
