Lions hope to roar again this weekend!

Coming off the back of a thrilling 35-33 walk off victory to secure our second double of the season, Billingham have the honour of welcoming Darlington Mowden Park to Greenwood Road for the return Candy league fixture.

To recap, the first leg was played on DMP’s sandy pitches and was a close and aggressive contest with Billingham ultimately running away to a 32-19 victory. This was a significant result as it was our first league victory over DMP, which also appears to be a trend for our season.

At the turn of the year and after a quick review of the candy league table, both teams have plenty to play for. Billingham are currently in 4th having won an impressive 8/10 games thus far, sitting 8 points behind 2nd place Alnwick (winners of 9/10) and with three games in hand on front runners Tynedale, all to play for! DMP on the other hand have surprisingly only won 2/9 games and could be in for a relegation dog fight.

Form aside, we always know it is going to be an extremely tough encounter when facing DMP, with their strong running forwards, well marshalled backs and a Fijian or two thrown in for good measure!

As always we have been well prepared and are looking forward to another big test, in a season them, which we relish and eagerly anticipate.

It is time to put our pride on the line, defend our home turf and play rugby the Billingham way.

Another double on the cards..? Come down Saturday, 2.15 KO to find out.

Josh Armstrong,
Second team captain.
