New Level 1 coaches join the squad

Billingham Ladies Rugby grows coaching team

Billingham Rugby Club’s Women and Girls’ section has added to its growing coaching team. Jenny Revill, Jaz Bradley, Kate Byrnes and Francesca Harding successfully completed the first level of the RFU’s stringent coaching qualification this week. RFU Women’s RDO Pete Taylor said: "It's great to see the club developing a group of new coaches to support the growth of the women and girls section. All the new coaches did superbly well on the L1 course and will be critical to the development of the female players at the club. Billingham is an ambitious club and with the support of both the club and the community I have no doubt that the Womens and Girls section will go from strength to strength really quickly."

Since the first tentative training session over a year ago, the senior team has gained more than 20 registered players, seen success in several touch festivals, and will be hosting their first development sevens tournament in June. The newly-formed U13 and U15 squads are growing rapidly and enjoying competitions with other local clubs. At the official launch of the Girls section in May, twenty Year 7, 8 and 9 girls demonstrated their rugby skills to parents and supporters.

If you or any of your family and friends want to try your hand at rugby skills, come along to the Pitch Up and Play 11-3pm tomorrow, alongside the County 7s competition. We start at Year 7, and there is no upper age limit, just a willingness to have fun and get fit!
