Blaydon who in recent years were playing in National One, a track record of being Falcons feeder side and coached by ex-pro Falcon Matt Thompson will be going into the game as favourites.

2018/19 Season saw the introduction of an Artificial Grass Pitch at Blaydon RFC which is something that will sit right at home with Billingham.

Billingham come into the game following a breezy 47-20 win against a tough Wirral side who pushed Billingham all the way in difficult conditions. Billingham will want start the Blaydon game as they did against Wirral with speed, precision and efficiency taking a 33-3 point lead into half time.

We managed to have a catch up with player-coach Pete Evans ‘This will be the second time we have travelled together as a first and 2nd squad. The first being a huge success at Harrogate. We are hopeful of the same outcome. It’s looking like we have 2 real strong squads with only long term Injuries absent. I suppose this would be classed as our derby, going on distance travelled. It’s a game many won’t have expected a few years ago but not we are in the same league and both have AGPs. Hopefully a very expansive and entertaining game. I know the lads are eager to get in the field, level on points at the top currently but a win away at Blaydon would be a huge statement after a great start to the season'
