First Billingham player called up for Durham WRU squad

Billingham Rugby Women & Girls co-founder Kate Byrnes will be making her County debut this weekend against Northumberland. Kate, who also coaches Billingham Girls, is the club's first senior County representative in the women's game.

Durham have had record numbers attending training and trialing for the squad this year; competition for places was fierce, with many very good players narrowly missing out.

Billingham Director of Rugby Chris Hyndman said, "Huge congratulations to Kate for reaching the County squad. This is a testament to all her hard work both in training and in building women's rugby in Billingham, and she is a great role model for our up and coming female players."

New or returning players of any age are invited to join the whole Billingham Women's squad for a rugby taster session on Wednesday 17th May at 6.30pm - Click here for more information
