England Rugby campaign gets underway at Greenwood Road

New and returning players are invited to join the Billingham Women & Girls squad for a summer fitness taster on Wednesday 17th May at the Greenwood Road ground. This is part of England Rugby's Meet Your Inner Warrior campaign, encouraging greater female participation in rugby across England.

Billingham's women have a packed programme of touch games this summer: in June we have the annual presentation lunch and Women v Girls game, and of course the opportunity to join in the County 7s event on 24th June. July sees the return of the successful Durham County Touch Festivals. Billingham have traditionally fielded a strong team in this series, and will be hosting the match on July 19th. Once the main rugby season re-starts in the autumn, we have local friendlies with other developing women's squads in the region, and of course the new artificial pitch gives us the opportunity to train year-round. Looking ahead, new recruits will have the chance to play in the league in 2018, and could join our current representative Kate Byrnes in the County squad.

Can you step out of your comfort zone and challenge yourself through rugby this summer? All you need is a pair of trainers and your usual workout gear. Join the event on our Facebook page or register on the England Rugby site for more details.

Training takes place on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings throughout the summer for all age groups.
