A great way to end the season.

Feeling Good - Nina Simone (1965)
Following the end of the season and the run up towards the Colts era a quick squad was assembled for a spot of 7’s rugby. So Luke, Oscar, Harry B, Lewis, Tom P, Harry L, Reuben, The flying Finn, Big Joe, Storm and Isaac ventured North in search of inspiration. Under the beady eye of Dan they looked to shake off the post exam kicking about and generally going to seed (I know you have been pre-season training but some of you get up for that!!!!!!!)
Taking a lead from the ex-manager usual dress sense a colorful ensemble was worn to confuse the opposition with the Daisy Chain kit backed up with florescent socks. Several complaints from Newcastle airport were received with Pilots being dazzled as they flew in to land.
7’s is even more unforgiving that the 15 man game with the strong and the fast being next to you and then away before you can say Pokemon. So the games were fast and a slow start saw the team against it in the first half against Morpeth but rallied to get a score on the board late on. A tasty encounter against the local friends Yarm saw Billingham fight back just coming short to even the match right at the end. Then clicked into gear to win against Keswick and then rounded off against Carlise with another loss despite having chances.
This meant the team played off against Rockcliffe for a table position and a switch of pitches. A great game saw scores being exchanged for each side with Rockcliffe scoring at the final whistle to get the result.
So a great day in the sun, yes it was there. Thanks to all the players for their great company and the effort put in. Dan for his time and usual level headed approach with shades on. And the supporters, it was nice to get the ripple of the shared jokes etc. again. My face is now the colour of the socks due to no sun cream.

Pain is temporary – It doesn’t matter how much pain I have to endure in a training session, I know that the benefits I reap will mean the pain will be worth it. In sport you can push yourself to a whole different level, a level that most people won’t ever experience in their lives. - Laura Trott OBE (24) – 2 Cycling Olympic Gold medals.
