What a Weekend!

4 wins from 4 across the senior section!!

Another great weekend for Billinghams senior section.

The Colts started the wins with a comfortable victory over national champions Tynedale. Alot of flowing rugby from the youngsters saw off a competitive Tynedale but allowed all players to get alot of game time.

The firsts followed on the 4g winning against Kirkby Lonsdale 48-26.

Head coach Pete commented on the Weekends action '
A top weekend for the senior section.
4 games against 4 genuine tests and we finished up on top on all the games.
The 3TM are really chasing the challenging games and played Bishop Auckland from the league above. Great attitude to have. Winning 33-7
A very young but exciting lions took apart Durham City. Missing some senior players it was left to a team full of former colts. Playing some expansive rugby winning 65-15.
The curtain raiser to the first team game, the colts were ruthless attacking from everywhere taking apart Tynedale. Some special talents in the group with a great ethos to match.
The first team entertained a strong Kirkby team. Some fantastic rugby by both teams. Some great scores and an enjoyable game to play.
All in all a very very impressive day. Not just the the results but the performances and attitudes shown by all the whole senior section which is thriving at the minute'

The Lions headed up to Durham and came away Victors 15-65. Thank you to Durham for hosting in what was a last minute arranged fixture.

I caught up with Billinghams Apprentice Harry-jon to discuss the game'
So on paper it’s a friendly but Durham were taken very seriously considering they called us for a game which is pretty rare as local teams normally cry off in these situations.

We were going into the game with injuries and absences from players that are viewed as leaders on the pitch but as Pete says you don’t have to have any specific number on your back to be a leader.

The injection of returning players combined with a team full of lads itching for game time provided for a very entertaining game of attacking rugby

The tries we scored came from constant go forward in which we exploited gaps in defence and supported off the shoulder, offloaded when we needed to and even better actually looked after the ball on the floor.

We got back to earning the right to go wide by the big lads punching holes in the middle and the quicker boys moving the ball into space on the outside, scoring team tries as well as solo efforts

A convincing win puts us back in good form moving forward into next weekends league fixture at home to Novos. '

Last by no mean was the 3TM who were keen to test themselves against Bishop Aucklands seconds and came away victorious in which included 17 year old Phil Greenbank at 10 who was available for colts due to school commitments. 3TM winning 33-7.

A great weekend for senior rugby.

We go again next week.
