Head Coach Peter Evans gives us an update on the rugby side of things for 2018.

We sat together as a senior section in June and spoke about our targets for the season and what it will take to achieve them.

• The 3TM wanted to challenge themselves with tougher games.
• The lions agreed that more travelling was needed to pick up more games. This would be a huge step up in class.
• The first team agreed on becoming a better squad, seeing out tight games and moving up the table.

Half way gone and all of that looks good …. so far…

2018 has been a great year, only 1 loss on home soil and countless big wins against teams like Preston, Blaydon and Harrogate. We are over half way through this season with only 3 losses a great start. We have a huge January coming up so will be working hard over Christmas.

The Lions have achieved some great results beating teams like the above. We have also blooded some exciting talents throughout the year.

The 3TM finished last season unbeaten, a top achievement. Finding it tough to pick up games they have set themselves up with some strong 2nd teams.

A couple of other aspects to be proud of. An increased use of social media to keep members informed. We understood that this needed to improve… we wanted to get Billingham’s name back on the map as it were. As you can see by recent website posts we are certainly doing that!

Secondly (we weren’t bad) but the social side to our club is booming. Busy as ever with more events and organised fun...

2019 looks like being the best ever, a brand new stand to get out of the Greenwood Road breeze.
The England u18 vs Scotland u18, a game to look forward too and hopefully our aim as a senior section is to be right up there, challenging for honours.

It’s an exciting environment to be around, the lads are loving it themselves and most are excelling. One thing is for sure we won’t rest on the achievements gone, we want to kick on.

A massive thanks to volunteers, supporters and sponsors.

We are a club that relies on these folk and they deserve thanks. We are seeing more and more youth at seniors games supporting and senior players doing the same for the youth.
Thanks to all, I hope you all have a fantastic festive break and I am sure we will see you over the period in the bar!
